Over sixty years later, the life of the LGBT community is still sadly crippled by the shackles of intolerance and the bondage of discrimination. Over sixty years later, the LGBT community lives on an island where their rights to follow whomever they choose is taken away in the midst of a vast ocean of happily married straight couples. Over sixty years later, the LGBT community is still being exiled in their own land, left feeling inferior and hopeless. So forthwith it is time to take a stand.
When the founders of our nation wrote the outstanding row of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were making a promise to every person in the States.



This was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
However, it has become clear today that America has failed to stand by this promise where citizens of different sexual orientations are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has pushed the LGBT community aside. But, I fail to believe that America truly believes that not offering everybody acceptance and opportunities is right. So it is time make a stand- a stand that will give the LGBT community the right to marry and the feeling of acceptance. It is also time to remind America of the fierce urgency of now.
